With the advancement of so many apps these days, it’s hard to know which ones to use for faith formation. Is your parish interested in incorporating technology in lessons, but not sure where to start? Check out some apps and websites that catechists can use to help kids and young people kick-start and cultivate their faith … and even help parents with their own faith formation!
1. Life Church
Introduces your littlest ones to the wonder and Word of God through age-specific lessons, fun animation, activities, and more. Parishes have the option to download the complete Bible App for Kids Curriculum — a two-year course with video episodes and activities for ages two through kindergarten. It’s free!
2. The Holy Rosary (Catholic)
Walks you through the process of praying the rosary with options for each day of the week and includes all the mysteries. This app can be used in class to help everyone pray the rosary together.
3. Being a Faith Fulled Catechist
There could not be an app more pointed at catechists than this. It has everything you need to form catechists and encourage them in their calling. Includes activities they can do with their young disciples. It’s all there, and it’s all good.
4. 3 Minute Retreat (Loyola Press)
Short, reflective retreats that can be used for prayer, with a new retreat available each day. Although technically geared towards adults, many are suitable for use with youth.
5. Parent Cue
An app to help parents pray for or talk about the Catholic faith with their child. Just give some simple details about each child (such as gender, grade, and date of birth), and they’ll provide an age-appropriate prayer guide, child development advice, and answers to typical faith questions.
We exist to form young adults into intentional disciples of Jesus Christ. This app will connect you with powerful content to help you “Grow” in holiness and “Go” make disciples. Watch excerpts from Disciples’ Nights, read blog posts, post prayer intentions, read daily Mass readings, and share as needed.
1. Amazing Catechists
Valuable resources for Program Directors, Catechists, Parents, Youth Ministers, and those in Adult Formation Ministries. Includes Catholic specific games, music, columns, and more to help catechists guide others in the faith.
2. Catholic Answers

3. Catholic Toolbox

4. Busted Halo
Under the direction of Fr. Dave Dwyer, CSP, Busted Halo Ministries helps young adults explore their spirituality, listen to and encourage one another, discover (or re-discover) the rich depths of Catholic tradition, connect to communities of faith where their unique gifts will be respected and used, and l find support on their journey towards God.
5. Life Teen
Life Teen strengthens our teens’ Catholic identity, while rooting them firmly in Christ and in His Church.
The Catechism of the Catholic Church can be daunting, which is why there is one formatted just for youth. Here you can find anything that you would like to know about the youth Catechism of the Catholic Church.
While we’ve got a nice list going, it’s not exhaustive by any means. What apps and websites have you discovered to be helpful when it comes to teaching our young people the faith?
