The word thank you on color pieces of paper in multiple languages

With emerging technology comes new ways of doing regular things — and thanking a donor for his or her support is one of them.

There is still value in a proper thank you note, but as more people turn to online giving to support their parish, it might be easy to overlook. But in addition to mailed letters and emails, there is another way to send a supporter a wish of thanksgiving almost instantly — through automatic email receipts.

Most online giving platforms will allow you to customize content in your donation receipts, in addition to donor’s name, tax-deductible amount, and other transaction details that are especially helpful for tax purposes. And because it can be set up automatically, you can pretty much “set it and forget it.”

Need a little inspiration for your church email receipt? Check out these five cut and paste thank you notes and customize them for your faith community.

Thank You 1

Dear (NAME),
During these turbulent times, we see so many people in our community look to our parish for a beacon of light. They come through our doors with confused minds, worried spirits, and a desire to be fed, both spiritually and physically. Your donation to our church allows us to offer so many resources to the most vulnerable in our community.

Please be assured of my prayers for you and your family. If you are ever in need, I encourage you to reach out to us. No one is ever too poor to give to our parish, or too rich to accept what we have to offer.

I am grateful for all you do for our parish and pray that God continues to bless you and your loved ones.

In Christ,

Thank You 2

With a heart of gratitude, I sincerely thank you for your donation to our parish. Your support allows us to keep our doors open to the sacraments that fulfill us spiritually and the resources that sustain us physically.

I’d like to take this opportunity to invite you to dive deeper into the life of our parish. Our church is a family — we pray together, we receive the sacraments together, and we look to one another for guidance and support.

If you’re interested in becoming more involved in our parish, please let me know. There are so many ways to become closer with our congregation.

With a grateful heart, I am,

Sincerely Yours in Christ,

Dear (NAME),
Thank you for your generous donation to (PARISH NAME). Without the financial assistance and prayers of our faithful members, we would not be the parish that we are today. The money you’ve given to us will not only allow us to keep the lights on and the doors open. It will allow us to fill our food bank for families in need, keep tuition sustainable for the families of our parish school, and help us continue to provide numerous resources to members of our community. We are so grateful for your contribution!

Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those we have yet to meet. Together, we are one body in Christ.

Dear (NAME),
I would like to take a moment to sincerely thank you for your generous contribution to (PARISH NAME). In Hebrews 13:16, we are reminded, “And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.” By making the commitment to share so generously with us what God has given to you, you are fulfilling his commandment to take care of others.

Thank you for being a wonderful example of living your faith. Please be assured of my prayers for you and your family.

Sincerely Yours in Christ,

Dear (NAME),
Thank you for your generous donation to (PARISH NAME). As you know, the work of our parish could not go on without the consistent, generous gifts of our parishioners. It’s through your time, talent and yes, treasure, that we can continue to be the light of Christ to those in our community who are most in need of it.

During these times of economic uncertainty, I understand how much of a sacrifice it is to give. However, God sees how much of a sacrifice you’re making, and so do we. We’re so grateful for your support!

Sincerely Yours in Christ,
